Business Cyber Insurance

We protect your business against digital risks such as ransomware, data breaches and system outages, covering both your own losses and your liability to others.

Who is it for?

  • E-commerce and retail businesses that hold customer, order and payment data
  • Small and medium-sized businesses whose production or services depend on digital systems
  • Professions that handle sensitive data, such as accountancy, law, healthcare and consultancy
  • Technology companies providing cloud-based software and infrastructure services
  • Any commercial organisation acting as a 'data controller' under KVKK, Türkiye's personal data protection law

What is Business Cyber Insurance and what does it do?

These days, what brings a business to a standstill is often not a fire but a screen that won't come on in the morning. Encrypted files, a hijacked email account or leaked customer data can leave even a small company unable to trade for days.

Business Cyber Insurance covers both your own losses and the harm you cause to others. Ransomware and cyber extortion, data recovery, lost income while an attack keeps you offline, digital forensics and legal advice, compensation claims arising from personal data breaches, and regulatory penalties are all covered within the limits stated in the policy.

Cyber insurance is no substitute for a firewall; it's what keeps your business going when the firewall is breached. We're here so that on a bad morning, you know exactly who to call.

What's covered

What does the policy cover?

Depending on the package you choose, some or all of the cover below can be added to your policy.

01

Ransomware and cyber extortion

If your systems are encrypted or someone threatens to publish your data, negotiation, specialist support and, subject to the policy terms, payment costs are covered. Technical advice is provided throughout.

02

Data loss and system restoration

The cost of recovering data that has been deleted, corrupted or made inaccessible in an attack, and of getting your systems up and running again, is covered.

03

Business interruption and loss of income

When a cyber incident takes your systems down, the resulting loss of income and ongoing fixed costs are compensated within the policy limit. The waiting period and indemnity period are defined in the policy.

04

Data breach response costs

Covers the digital forensics investigation that establishes what happened, notifications to affected individuals and the authorities, and process costs such as a call centre.

05

Information security and privacy liability

Compensation claims made against you because of a breach of personal data belonging to customers, employees or business partners are covered. Administrative penalties under personal data legislation are assessed subject to the terms and limits in the policy.

06

Network security liability

Covers compensation claims if third parties suffer harm because of a vulnerability in your systems. Malware spreading through your network is also dealt with under this heading.

07

Legal defence costs

Lawyers' fees and court costs in lawsuits and investigations arising from a cyber incident are covered. Your defence is handled with specialist lawyers.

08

Reputation management

If the incident becomes public, the costs of crisis communications, PR advice and keeping your customers informed are supported under the policy.

09

Cyber crime and fraud

Losses from unauthorised money transfers and data manipulation carried out through fake instructions, spoofed emails or account takeovers can be added as extra cover.

10

Media liability

Claims of copyright infringement or damage to reputation arising from content published on your website or digital channels can be covered.

11

Payment card standards compliance costs

Fines, audit and recertification costs resulting from a breach of card data security standards are covered within the limits stated in the policy.

12

Incident response support

As soon as an attack is detected, you are put in touch with a technical and legal specialist team. Taking the right steps in the first few hours shortens both the damage and the recovery.

Cover, exclusions and limits vary with the package you choose and the policy's general and special terms. To work out the right set of cover for you, call us on 0850 303 28 66.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about Business Cyber Insurance

If your question isn't on the list, give us a call. We'll keep explaining until it all makes sense.

Most attacks aren't aimed at a chosen target; they go looking for weak spots. If you hold customer data, sell online or keep your accounts digitally, the risk is real for you too.

Ransomware cover can include negotiation, specialist support and, depending on the special conditions of the policy, payment costs. The scope varies with the type of incident, the limits and the conditions set out in the policy; we clarify this when you apply.

Administrative fines for breaching personal data protection law (KVKK in Türkiye) are assessed according to the terms and limits in the policy. Penalties that can legally be insured are covered.

Basic measures such as up-to-date backups, security software and access controls are usually expected. We go through these conditions with you when you apply, and if anything is missing, we tell you clearly what needs to be done.

Employee-related incidents, such as clicking on a malicious link by accident or sending a file to the wrong person, are covered by most policies. Deliberate and malicious acts are treated separately.

Wherever the data is stored, you remain the data controller. So using the cloud doesn't remove the need for insurance; we design the policy around your supplier set-up.

Disconnect the affected devices from the network, don't wipe your systems and keep all logs. Then call us straight away, and we'll handle the referral to the technical team, the notification process and the claim together.
