Green Card Insurance

Cross-border cover for the damage you might cause to other people when you drive your vehicle abroad.

Who is it for?

  • People taking their own car abroad on holiday
  • People living abroad who drive to and from Türkiye
  • International freight and passenger transport operators
  • Professionals who drive on business trips
  • Riders planning cross-border motorcycle trips

What is Green Card Insurance and what does it do?

The moment you cross the border in your vehicle, your Turkish Compulsory Traffic Insurance stops applying. If you're involved in an accident abroad, you need separate cover for any damage to the other party. That cover is called the Green Card.

Green Card Insurance is international motor third-party liability cover. If you cause an accident in the country you're visiting, it covers damage to other people's vehicles, belongings or health within the limits set by that country's own laws. It's valid in countries that belong to the Green Card system, and many border crossings ask for it when you enter with a vehicle.

We can arrange it for just a few days or for a full year, depending on what you need. We'll have your policy ready and in your hands before you set off.

What's covered

What does the policy cover?

Depending on the package you choose, some or all of the cover below can be added to your policy.

01

Property Damage to Third Parties

If you're found at fault in an accident abroad, damage to the other party's vehicle, cargo or other belongings is paid for.

02

Bodily Injury and Medical Expenses

Hospital, surgery and recovery costs for third parties injured in the accident are covered, so you don't face the bill alone in a foreign country.

03

Permanent Disability Compensation

If someone on the other side is left permanently unable to work after the accident, the resulting compensation is covered by the policy.

04

Loss of Financial Support in the Event of Death

If someone loses their life in the accident, the compensation owed to the dependants they supported is covered under the policy terms.

05

Payment Within the Host Country's Compulsory Limits

Compensation is based on the limits in the compulsory motor liability laws of the country where the accident happened. These limits vary from country to country.

06

Roadside Assistance (Add-on)

For an extra premium, you can add help such as towing, recovery, accommodation and travel home. What's included depends on your policy and the package you choose.

07

Legal Protection (Add-on)

Extra cover is available for lawyer and court costs if a lawsuit follows an accident abroad; the terms depend on the package you choose.

Cover, exclusions and limits vary with the package you choose and the policy's general and special terms. To work out the right set of cover for you, call us on 0850 303 28 66.
