1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that your browser saves on your device when you visit a website. It usually holds the site’s name, a randomly generated ID and the date the record expires.
Cookies cannot access the files on your device, run programs or carry viruses. Their job is to let a site recognise you during a visit, remember your preferences and make pages work properly. Similar technologies such as local storage may be used for the same purposes; in this policy we simply call them all “cookies”.
2. Why do we use cookies?
We only use cookies as far as needed to keep the site working properly and to improve your experience. Our main purposes are:
- keeping the site’s core features running and secure;
- remembering your display and consent preferences;
- measuring, in aggregate and anonymously, which pages are read and for how long;
- spotting slow pages and errors so we can improve your experience;
- if you consent, measuring promotions about insurance products that may interest you.
Your language choice is not stored in a cookie. Whether you see the Turkish or the English version of the site depends on the address you visit; English pages start with /en/.
3. Types of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories by what they do. Apart from strictly necessary cookies, they only run if you give your consent.
| Cookie type | Purpose | Example use | Duration | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary cookies | Needed for the site to work; page routing and security checks rely on these cookies. | Session ID, a record of your cookie choice | For the session, or up to 12 months | Not required |
| Functional cookies | Remember the choices you make, so the site keeps the same settings every time you visit. | Display preference, the insurance line you picked before, information boxes you have closed | Up to 12 months | With your consent |
| Analytics / performance cookies | Measure how visitors use the site in aggregate, de-identified form, so we can see which content is actually helpful. | Page views, visit length, on-site search terms, error logs | Up to 24 months | With your consent |
| Marketing / targeting cookies | Help us measure promotional activity and avoid showing you the same content over and over. | Ad frequency cap, measuring which channel a campaign link came from | Up to 12 months | With your consent |

4. Cookies by duration and source
Cookies are also grouped by how long they stay on your device and who sets them:
Session cookies
Stay on your device only while you are using the site and are deleted automatically when you close the browser tab. They keep your browsing uninterrupted within a single visit.
Persistent cookies
Stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. They let the site remember your preferences next time and help measurements tell returning visitors apart.
First-party cookies
Set directly by this site and readable only by this site.
Third-party cookies
Set by an external service used on the site (such as an analytics tool or an embedded map) and handled under that service’s own rules.
5. A note on third-party cookies
We may use third-party services on the site for things like analytics, showing maps or embedding content. These services can set their own cookies, which are handled under the provider’s privacy rules and cannot technically be read by us.
We try to keep third-party cookies to a minimum. You can block them all at once in your browser settings; almost every up-to-date browser has a “block third-party cookies” option. When you click a link to one of our social media accounts, that platform’s own cookie and privacy practices apply.
6. How to manage cookies in your browser
You don’t have to accept cookies. Every up-to-date browser lets you delete cookies, block them for particular sites, clear them automatically when the browser closes and warn you before a cookie is saved. Menu names vary between versions, but the general steps are as follows:
Google Chrome
- 1Open Settings from the three-dot menu in the top right.
- 2Under Privacy and security, choose the cookie settings.
- 3You can block third-party cookies, set permissions site by site, or remove existing cookies with “Delete browsing data”.
Safari
- 1On a Mac, go to Safari > Settings in the menu bar and open the Privacy tab.
- 2You can tick “Block all cookies” or remove stored cookies via “Manage Website Data”.
- 3On iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app and go to Safari to find the same options and the clear history step.
Mozilla Firefox
- 1Open Settings from the menu icon in the top right.
- 2In the Privacy & Security tab, choose your level of Enhanced Tracking Protection.
- 3Under “Cookies and Site Data” you can clear data or have cookies deleted when Firefox closes.
Microsoft Edge
- 1Open Settings from the three-dot menu in the top right.
- 2Go to Cookies and site permissions to manage cookies.
- 3You can block or allow cookies site by site, or delete all stored site data.
On mobile devices, browser settings are usually found in the app’s own “Settings” menu or under the browser’s name in your phone’s system settings. If you browse in a private or incognito tab, cookies are deleted when the session ends.
7. What happens if I turn cookies off?
Turning off non-essential cookies won’t stop you using the site, but you may miss out on a few conveniences:
- Choices you have made before will not be remembered, and information boxes may reappear on every visit.
- Some security checks on the site may not work, and pages may load more slowly than expected.
- If you block strictly necessary cookies altogether, parts of the site may not open.
You don’t need to accept cookies to get an insurance quote. Quote requests come through WhatsApp, and if you prefer, you can call us on 0850 303 28 66 and handle the whole process by phone.
8. Cookies and your personal data
Some cookies may contain information that counts as personal data, such as your IP address or device details. This data is processed under Turkey’s Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK): on the basis of our legitimate interest for strictly necessary cookies, and on the basis of your explicit consent for all other cookies.
For details on why data is processed, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and how to exercise your rights, please see our Privacy Policy. To withdraw your cookie consent, simply delete the stored cookies in your browser.
9. Changes to this policy
The cookies we use may change as our services and the technology behind the site change. Whenever this Policy is updated, the new text is published on this page and takes effect as soon as it is published. We show the date of the last update at the top of the page so you can keep track of changes.
