Study Abroad Insurance

Long-term cover for students studying abroad, taking care of health, baggage and emergency costs throughout their studies.

Who is it for?

  • Students going abroad for an undergraduate, master's or PhD degree
  • Young people heading to a language school or summer school
  • Students spending a term abroad on an exchange programme
  • People going abroad for an internship, a certificate programme or short-term training
  • Families who want peace of mind when sending their child abroad

What is Study Abroad Insurance and what does it do?

Studying abroad for a term or a year is a big step. A new city, a new language and often your first home on your own. At a time like that, the last thing you want to be thinking about is how much the doctor's bill will be when you're ill in bed.

Study Abroad Insurance protects you against sudden illness and accidents throughout your studies. Your medical treatment costs, transfer to a healthcare facility when needed and, in serious cases, your return home are covered. And if your luggage goes missing, your passport is stolen or you face an unexpected legal matter, you're not on your own.

We set up the policy for anywhere from one week to twelve months, in line with your academic calendar. Most universities and visa applications ask for valid health insurance, and getting that document ready on time is our job.

Anyone under 65 who can show they'll be studying abroad. Language schools, exchange programmes and certificate courses are included too.

Anywhere between one week and twelve months, depending on the length of your programme. We'll set the term together based on your academic calendar.

Some schools require you to join their own scheme, but these often only cover on-campus services. A separate policy is usually needed for your visa application and for situations off campus. Send us your school's requirements and we'll go through where they overlap together.

A document showing you'll be studying abroad, such as an acceptance letter or a student certificate, is enough. We'll take care of the rest.

Yes. Just let us know before it ends and we'll renew it to cover the new period. To avoid any gap in cover, we suggest not leaving it until the last week.

The policy should be arranged before you leave; visa and enrolment processes require it anyway. So the best thing is to get in touch before your flight date.

The policy is for sudden and unexpected situations; planned treatment of pre-existing conditions isn't covered. If an emergency related to such a condition develops, treatment is assessed in line with the policy terms.
