What is Overseas Travel Health Insurance and what does it do?
Going abroad is exciting, but falling ill or having a minor accident in a foreign country is anything but. In many countries, a single trip to A&E can turn into a serious bill, and finding the right hospital somewhere you don't speak the language is a challenge in itself.
That's where Overseas Travel Health Insurance comes in. It covers your medical treatment costs if you fall ill or have an accident, and if necessary transfers you to a suitable healthcare facility or back home. From lost luggage to a stolen passport, and from delayed baggage to a trip you have to cancel, it's there for many of the things that can make travel difficult.
We set your policy day by day to match your trip, whether it's a weekend away or a long plan spread over a year. We get the document you need for your visa application to you on time, so you can concentrate on packing.

What does the policy cover?
Depending on the package you choose, some or all of the cover below can be added to your policy.
Emergency Medical Treatment
For sudden illness or accidents on holiday or on a business trip, consultation, test and medication costs are covered within your policy limits. This is the cover Schengen visa applications ask for.
Hospital Admission and Surgery
If you need to be admitted to hospital while abroad, hospital, theatre and anaesthesia costs are covered. The scope depends on your policy and the package you choose.
Emergency Dental Treatment
If you get severe toothache while travelling, emergency treatment to relieve the pain is covered up to the amount set out in the policy. Crowns and implants aren't included.
Medical Transfer and Ambulance
If the treatment you need isn't available where you are, the assistance team arranges your transfer to a properly equipped centre and the policy covers the cost.
Return to Türkiye After Discharge
If a doctor decides it isn't safe for you to fly home on a scheduled flight once treatment is over, a suitable return is arranged. If you need someone to accompany you, that's included in the arrangements too.
Repatriation of Remains
In the saddest of circumstances, the transfer of the insured person to Türkiye and the related official paperwork are taken care of, so the family doesn't have to deal with it alone abroad.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Baggage
If the suitcase you checked in with the airline is lost, stolen or damaged during the flight, your loss is paid within policy limits.
Baggage Delay
If your suitcase doesn't arrive on the same plane as you, you're reimbursed for the clothes and toiletries you had to buy while waiting.
Flight Delay
If your scheduled flight is delayed for longer than the period stated in the policy, food, drink and other necessary spending while you wait at the airport is covered.
Lost Passport and Travel Documents
If your passport or ticket is lost or stolen, the fees you pay to replace it and the related travel costs are covered under the policy.
Emergency Messages
If something urgent happens abroad, a message is passed on to your family or workplace. When you can't get in touch, the assistance team bridges the gap.

Your questions about Overseas Travel Health Insurance
If your question isn't on the list, give us a call. We'll keep explaining until it all makes sense.
If you're travelling to the Schengen area on a visa, yes. EU visa rules require a policy with at least €30,000 of cover, valid in all Schengen countries for your entire trip. Some other countries ask for a similar document with visa applications. It isn't compulsory for countries that don't require a visa, but given healthcare costs there, it makes a great deal of sense.
The policy starts on the travel start date you give us and ends after covering your return day as well. Visa applications require the policy to cover your whole trip, so it's important to give us exact dates.
Yes, in situations that can be documented, such as a visa refusal, a serious accident, the death of a close relative or a natural disaster, provided you apply before the policy start date. Send us the documents and we'll handle it.
Age limits, and any extra conditions for older travellers, vary by insurer and package. When preparing your quote, we look for options that suit your age group and pass them on to you.
This policy is for sudden and unexpected situations that arise while travelling. Planned treatment of conditions that existed before your trip isn't covered; if an emergency related to such a condition develops, emergency treatment is assessed in line with the policy terms.
Wherever possible, the assistance team directs you to a contracted facility and tries to arrange direct payment. If that isn't possible, you can pay yourself and claim a refund with invoices and medical reports.
Yes. Annual policies are available for frequent travellers. Tell us roughly how many trips you take and how long you usually stay, and we'll work out the right set-up together.
If your details are complete, the policy is issued the same day and sent to you digitally. You don't need to do anything else to have it ready for your visa appointment.
